Writing Chapter Books 3

Chapter books are books intended for intermediate readers and are told with extensive prose with a limited number of illustrations. Students in this class will learn how to convert their short stories into longer stories. The art of illustrations for the intermediate reader will also be discussed. Students will work towards publishing their chapter books.

Writing Conventions

Participants will learn how to refine and develop their academic writing skills. Students will learn the art of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar through interactive lessons.

Writing Conventions for High School

Participants will learn how to refine and develop their academic writing skills. In addition to correct punctuation and mechanics of writing, students will learn the rules of formatting their work according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) and Associated Press (AP) style guides.

Writing Conventions and Paragraph Structure

Participants will learn how to refine and develop their academic writing skills. Younger students will learn the art of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar through interactive lessons. Compositions will be introduced through paragraph structure. Older students will learn to write the narrative structure. They will write three to five paragraph essays. They will also learn how to plan and outline their essays properly before writing, as well as how to revise their essays.

Writing Conventions For Middle School

Participants will learn how to refine and develop their academic writing skills. In addition to correct punctuation and the mechanics of writing, students will learn the rules of formatting their work according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) style guide.

Writing Conventions for the Common Core

Participants will learn how to refine and develop their academic writing skills according to the Common Core State Standards. Students will learn the art of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar through interactive lessons.

Writing Nonfiction and Short Articles

In creative nonfiction, or literary nonfiction, the student will learn how to portray facts accurately using literary devices and dramatic techniques. They will learn how to write travelogues, science writing, nature writing, and sports writing among other genre.
