FAQ

Camps (11)

What’s the difference between half-day and full-day?

Half-day campers will learn the core concepts of each week, while full-day students will get more time to work on their writing and get assistance from the instructor on their work. We encourage students to join our full-day classes for maximum benefit.

Are campers writing all day?

No. At Lekha, we present interactive lessons and encourage our students to write through a variety of methods. There is a 15-minute break and an hour lunch for full-day students. Students must bring their own lunch and snacks.

Do you have to register for the entire session?

No, but we do recommend that students sign up for the whole session for the greatest benefit.

What will be taught at these camps?

We offer three kinds of camps, Creative Writing, Academic Writing, and Mass Communication. Creative Writing focuses on fiction forms like short stories, plays and poems, while Academic Writing focuses on non-fiction forms like essays and book reports. Mass Communication focuses on public speaking and journalism. View our current programs for more information.

How can I register?

We offer online register on our independent locations. Parks and Recreation programs offer their own registration methods. Have a look at our registration page for more information.

Why would Lekha cancel a program?

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone any program or activity due to inclement weather or low enrollment.

Medical emergencies are exempt from the policy. A signed statement from your doctor is required prior to the last class to be eligible for a refund and will be prorated for classes that were attended.

What ages are allowed?

We offer programs for students entering kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade. Our current programs can be filtered to show what is available for each grade.

Where are summer camps being held this year?

Summer camps are held in South Bay, Peninsula, East Bay, and Tri-Valley locations. Visit our registration page to see all our current locations.

How much does the camp cost?

The camp costs $475 for a full-day camp and $265 for a half-day camp. There is a 10% discount for early-bird registration. We also offer 10% off of additional sessions and 10% off for siblings. Pricing varies at Parks and Rec. locations and we waive materials fees for additional sessions and siblings. Please see our registration page for details.

What would you recommend for my child?

Generally, we recommend new students join our Creative Writing track. However, if your student is having trouble with writing in school, the Academic Writing track is designed to help students with essay writing, book reports, and other forms of academic writing. Our Mass Communications track includes programs on public speaking and debate.
